A week ago there were reports about the Indian government’s movement towards banning 52 Chinese apps. Now the government has taken the movement regarding the ban of 59 Chinese apps including TikTok and Helo formally. In the news released by Press Information Bureau (PIB), it has been said that the decision is held for apps “which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.”

The PIB release said that the motive behind the move is to “safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace.”
